Oldsmobile/Buick: Comment on Answer from 2003, crankshaft position sensor, crank sensor

Question
You answered that the fuekl pump was the reason a gentleman's 87 Olds/Buick 3800. He said if it sat for an hour it would start.
I have the same problem and have also replaced my fuel pump.
The Answer? - Cam or Crankshaft Position Sensor. To test ( crudly) squirt cold water on one sensor and if the car starts you have the faulty sensor. No start, then chill the other and ta-da.
Crank sensor is harder to replace. I just changed out the Cam sensor and saw if it worked before proceeding to the harder crak sensor.

Answer
John ,

If you changed out the Cam sensor then why not do the crank sensor . In my opinion half the battle is already done . With the fuel pump already out of the way and I imagine all the electrical has been checked then move to the crank sensor . Those three are usually my first guess .
