Question
I puchased a 1984 olds cutlass V6 it runs good except when cold the engine surgess what could be done to rectefy this

Answer
Hi Fred,
Repairs such as yours are difficult to diagnose, with out the car in front of me, but here goes......
Sounds to me that your problem lies in one or a combination of areas. First, a vacuum leak. check all the hose lines at the carburetor for dry rot, especially at the auto choke diaphram, pcv valve, or the carburetor gasket between the intake manifold may bee leaking (this is easy to find as you will hear a slight whistling sound) and vacuum advance hose that runs to the diaphram at the distributor. If all checks out ok, your carburetor and/or it's vaccum components may be the culprit and need a rebuild or replacement. Hope this helps! Ray
