Saab: Saab 900 Speedometer, speedometer needle, speedometer gear

Question
Jerry;  Hi! Now that car is running again(clutch OK); I thought I'd tackle the speedometer. I have a second instrument cluster and cable.  I hooked up the spare to the speedometer in the car, spun the cable (transmission end) and watched the speedometer needle jump.  so I'm guessing both speedometer head and cable are OK 9at this point).  However, looking at the cable in the car which is hooked up to the transmission, when moving, there is no rotation of the cable (knee board removed and cable positioned so I can see end direct).  I'm guessing the 'speedometer transmission cog?" is a miss, but I'm having trouble locating any parts number info.  Ideas appreciated.

Answer
Tony:
The speedometer gear is located on the transaxle housing, directly above the right hand side output halfshaft entry point, which I presume you already found. You can unscrew it from the transmission housing and examine the nylon gear at the bottom; its likely worn out.
I used to have a supply of these sensors, but they are long gone. There are several websites that maintain a supply of SAAB odds and ends. Try EBAY "A little bit of SAAB Salvage"
and other such 'keyword' searches. Hope this helps,
