Saab: 1991 Saab 900 dead short, inner fender, 1991 saab 900

Question
Jerry,
My '91 Saab 900 is a toy/weekend car and I do all the work on it, and have partially restored it mechanically and cosmetically. Unfortunately, it has always had a slow drain on the battery that I have just now decided I'm not going to put up with any longer. Hooking up a test light between the battery and the distribution block on the right inner fender, you get a good glow, but pulling every fuse and relay one at a time won't turn it off. So then, I began removing wires from the dist. block and found removing the set of three fat, gray wires will turn off the light. What do those feed? I can add, one night a few weeks ago me and my wife were out in the driveway looking at another of my cars and the Saab's head and fog lights just came on by themselves! The doors were shut and locked, and the key ring/remote alarm were hanging on a hook in the kitchen! The lights went back off after a few seconds and we were both glad someone else saw it or otherwise we'd never believe it. Any thoughts before I dig in further?

Thanks!
Michael

Answer
Michael:
Although I cannot explain the "gremlin effect" you observed, I suggest that you check the fuse/relay block under the rear seat for the offending circuit which I believe is fed by one of those "grey wires". Sounds like a "stuck" relay.
   Hope this helps,
