Saab: Help, 2 quarts, saab 2000

Question
I just recently bought a Saab 2000 yr. 93 series convertible with sport button and tubo engine 2.0L it had 111,000+ miles the other week we changed out my oil and serviced the car then we changed the casket on the manifold we ordered from Nappa cause it was leaking whil we changed this we also change the points and gapped them at 40 my car ran fine for a few days then I was on my way to work and noticed white smoke coming out the tailpipe then a smell like paper burning then it stopped and ran fine a few more days then I heard a slight tapping noise didn't think much about it cause I knew we had just done this work to it well this week we were driving it and we turned off the road onto a ramp and it died it recranked fine then while we were going up a mtn. it started losing power the black smoke was billowing out of tailpipe we stopped checked the oil it didn't register on the dip stick we put 2 quarts in it and it recranked and we went on up the hill the triaangle light for oil came on we put 3 more quarts in it but it never regained power the smoke subscided then restarted it is still making the tapping sound it is parked presently and I need help is the motor gone or could this be something else? Thank-you so much for your time and hopefully a solution for me.

From your description, I could not determine the year and model of your SAAB. Could you clarify by return email?
In any case, it sure sounds like the engine is fatally destroyed; what I can recommend is that you consider getting a used one from a recycyling yard and having it installed. The usually last for many many miles, so a used one would be a good choice. I can advise you as to locating one once I receive your clarification information as requested above if you give me the area you are from, i. e., the ZIPCODE.

          Hope this helps,
