Saab: 86 SPG no powe to fuel pump, key switch, man operation

Question
I have an 86 SPG that I have stored for the past two years. I bought this car new and it is still in pristine condition. I pulled it out of storage and discovered that I am not getting any power to the fuel pump. Voltage to the pump is 0v at key on (two man operation)and 9.1-9.4v while trying to start. I get 0v at the fuse. I ran straight power to the fuse and the pump kicks on immediately. I also have a pristine 86 900t convertible so I swapped the fuel relay and then the fuel module. I still have the same problem. If I spray ether into the air intake, the car fires right up and purrs until the ether is gone. Any suggestions? Thanks.

It sounds like you have a poor connection somewhere in the 'run' circuit, that is between the key switch and the fuel pump fuse. You can bypass the pump relay by removing fuses 27 & 30 and connect the INNER terminal of fuse 30 to the OUTER terminal of fuse 27. The ingition should be OFF. If the pump runs, its the relay or wiring to the relay. If NOT, its in the wiring to the pump or the pump itself. (One symptom of a failing pump is the inability to turn on at voltages below 11V). If you send me your email address, I will send you a scanned-in schematic of the fuel system wiring.
  Hope this helps.
