Saab: 1997 saab 900, saab 900, lock cylinder


Question
My key is stuck in locked position with of course the car in reverse..i have read your other answer on the board about it being a spring under they key...i cant seem to get to it though..how do i get the part where the key goes into off its seems to covered by this metak casing and then the long cylinder...thank you

Dear Crystal:
 Since my direct experience is ONLY on SAABS up to 1990, this answer is speculation based on the fact that SAAB designs don't change much. Anyway, you'll need to remove the entire assembly that houses the lock cylinder. Sometimes there are "security nuts" that require a special tool to remove. Once removed, the assembly can be taken apart from underneath; once opened, the "reverse lockout lever" is then exposed and can then be either removed or fixed. Hope this helps........
