Volkswagen: How to fix a fuel injected fuel pump on VW bug, voltswagon beetle, great shape

Question
ok. I have a 76 voltswagon beetle and in great shape. The other day i went to start it and it will turn over but it will not start. We think that it is the fuel pump however the other 74 voltswagon we have is carborated. We know where that fuel pump is but we don't know were to find the fuel injected one or how to change it. Please help us. I miss my little car. We have checked the plugs and everything that the manual told us too. However it said to look at page two of the book for fuel injected and that page is missing.

Answer
Hi Holly,

The fuel pump is electric.  It is located under the fuel tank, which is in the front of the car.   There is also a fuel filter attached to it, which may be clogged.

The best way to see if the pump is OK, is have someone listen to it (or feel it) while it is being started.

Best of luck, I hope your little car is on the road quickly.

Take Care,

Ron
