Volkswagen: bearings, dowel, distinct impression

When putting together the case the #4 bearing came out of the dowel.  I didn't notice until after tightening the bolts that the crank turned only with difficulty.  The dowel was pressed actually into the outside of the bearing creating a very distinct impression.  Is this bearing now trash?

I have done this myself over the years.  Yes, the bearing is trash,  and double check the other ones.

Fortunately, it's not an expensive issue.

Even if it works ok when assembled with the dowel in the hole...don't be tempted to use it.  It is most definately,  gonzo.   Get a new one.
