Volkswagen: fans not turning on sensor reset, jetta gt, temperature gauge

I am experiencing a problem with my 97 jetta GT. The fans are not kicking on. A new therostat was recently put in I think it could be the temp sensor or something to do with the computer. Or do I need to reset the codes? Or what do I need to do, To get the fans to turn on? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi Tryce,

Turn on the air conditioning and see if the fans kick on.  Also, is your temperature gauge getting in the 'hot zone'?

The fans are not designed to run all the time, only when needed.

If both of the above check out ok,  replace the temperature sensor.

The computer should have no impact on running the fans, and is rarely a problem.
