Volvo: Volvo 240 SW wont start. 1987, volvo 240, track test

My car won't start.  It tries to turn over. You can smell the gas. It might not be getting any spark.

Sounds like you are on the right track. Test for spark, and make sure the connections at the ignition control unit are good and tight... Check also at the coil and dist cap. The connections at the control unit often loosen, there are sleeves that can be pushed over the small pins in the control unit.
