Volvo: 850r? t5r? Differences, maximum torque, engine response

Question
Please can you tell me the difference between a 850 Turbo R and a t5r?  We have just bought an 850r and thought it was t5r but it is red so its not, (so we are told) what are the differences please?

Answer
Simon,
The "R" uses a T3 turbo and the TR5 uses a T5 turbo. Different turbo bore sizes. My guess is that the preformance in the T5 is a bit better. Control unit mapping might be slightly different in as much as the duration of the injection on time. VIN 58 is T5, VIN 53 is T3 ("R").
The T3,T5  Performance is listed as the same.
The B5234T has a maximum output of 166 kw (225 hp) and a maximum torque of 300 Nm (221 ft lb) . The electronic boost pressure system ensures that boost pressure is built up rapidly and maximum torque is available between approximately 2,000 rpm and 5,280 rpm. Engine response is rapid, at speeds as low as 1,500 rpm torque is already 240 Nm (176.9 ft lb) .
