Question
I have an oil leak that sprayed oil on the inside of the hood of the car. I checked the oil level and it was low. I added oil and checked underneath to see if I could see the leak. There was no visible leak. I backed the car up and put it in park and let it idle. When I moved the car I could see an oil puddle on my driveway. I then checked under the car and could not see any visible leak. I drove the car and it drove fine. Again I checked and could not see a leak. I believe that the car is only loosing oil when it is in gear. Does this sound crazy?

Answer
Derrick,
I guess it is possibly that it only leaks under a load. Hard to say for sure. There are many oil leaks at the rear main oil seal/front seal of the trans. If oil sprayed onto the underside of the hood the breather box under the intake manifold maybe clogging. There is an o'ring on the end of the dip stick that also can fail. The oil cap seal also gets oid and fails.
