Volvo: 2001 Volvo S80 brake booster pump, volvo s80, 2001 volvo s80

I recently bought a used 2001 volvo s80 with 90,000 miles. It has started making a couple of weird noises, one of which is a hissing sound from the brake pedal. The volvo dealer/service says it's a brake booster (pump?) and will cost $700. Does this sound right and is this a reasonable amount to pay?

The hissing from the brake does sound like a booster leak, so they're probably right on the diagnosis.  I can't speak for the repair cost, but considering it's the dealership, most of that is probably labor; the part cost is probably only 100-200.  If you have it done at a 3rd party shop, you'll probably save a good bit of money.  Good luck!
