4 Wheel Drive/SUVs: Front rims, burnt rubber smell, steering & brake problems, brake calipers, burnt rubber

Question
QUESTION: What causes the front rims to overheat and the smell of burnt rubber. It causes the car to veer to the right and brakes do not work properly. I just had extensive work done to my vehicle 93 ford explorer. Thank you.

ANSWER: WOULD BE FROM THE BRAKS IF YOU HAVE PROBS WITH THEM

QUESTION: Would the 4WD have anything to do with this? Smoke was coming from the right wheel well and the smell was terrible.

Answer
What causes the front rims to overheat and the smell of burnt rubber.

This could be low tire pressure so check the tire pressure on all tires and also take and jack up the vehicle and place a can in front of the tire and retate the tire and see if it is out of round.

Had extensive work done!

Well take it back and tell them that should be under warranty.

with the vehicle pulling to one side seems like one of the brake calipers needs to be rebuilt, or is a tire out of round.

Check this and get back to me if it does not fix it.
