4 Wheel Drive/SUVs: Jeep Cherokee Sport Steering Stabilizer, jeep cherokee sport, jeep cherokee

Question
I just had my 2000 Cherokee Sport inspected. The steering stabilizer is leaking fluid and should be replaced. Estimate from dealer was 200.00. Auto Zone sells Gabriel replacement for 29.00. Looks like two bolts holds this on. Can I do this repair myself? Anything to watch out for with shock pressure?
Thank You,
Robert

Boy, they must be charging plenty for labor.  I haven't replaced one on that model, but have replaced several on other models.  It shouldn't take more than a half hour or so, with basic hand tools to replace.  There is nothing real complicated on this repair.  Definitely get the Gabriel, and I would suggest that you purchase a repair manual (around $20) for the Jeep.  These manuals give step by step instructions on most repairs, and can come in handy for future trouble shooting.
