Jeep: 2000 Cherokee Transmission, jeep cherokee sport, automatic transmision

The automatic transmission in my 2000 Jeep Cherokee Sport is starting to slip.  I wanted a 5spd. orginally when I bought my Jeep but I couldn't find one.  If I wanted to swap out the automatic transmission for a 5 spd., what years would be compatable?

Wow tough question. You are in for a lot of $$ to swap 5 spd for auto.You should contact the dealer parts guy with this question. You will need to change a lot of thing the flex plate, the shift assy. the pedal assy. the pcm, the speed sensor the rear trans mount and possibly the rear cross member where the trans mounts to the transfer case, a radiator. The reason that I cannot tell you what models are compatible is that this is not like building a hot rod of the past where the automatic transmision is completely mechanical. the tcm (transmision conrol module) communicates with the pcm to control shift points ect.. As with every thing it seem in the world... it is possible given the correct amounts of money. Perhaps sell the vehicle and try to find a 5 spd version in the long run it would be cheapest overall.
