Jeep: transmission fluid for 2000 jeep cherokee sport, jeep cherokee sport, friction modifier

Question
I have a 2000 Jeep Cherokee Sport with the 4.0 straight 6...  I went to the parts store for the filter and the transmission fluid and was given ATF+3.  The dipstick does NOT say what kind to use.  The owners manual states to use Dexron II.  I see on the net that ATF+4 is being used as a replacement by dealers.  Can I use the ATF+3?  Is that the same as Dexron II?

Thanks...

Answer
The short answer is to get the transmision fluid listed in the manual, call your local Chrysler dealer and get the Fluid from the dealer. There are different friction modifier in different brands of ATF, these differeces can have negative impacts on the clutch packs in the transmision. Mopar or no par as they say.
