when i crank it it runs rough but after five min. it smooths out but seems to idle a lil high plus smell unburnt fuel in exhaust and also have a sensor lite on

It may well be that the choke is responsible for the rough running, if you are talking about cold start.

The sensor light is a mileage switch in the speedometer.  it can be reset by moving the reset (a switch located on the steering column under the lower dash cover) to the opposite position.  It will again go on in about 50k miles.  It is not a toggle, but rather a small slide switch.
