Suzuki: Muffler Problem, suzuki esteem, muffler

Question
Hey, i have a suzuki esteem 1998. It has a muffler leak i believe. I got it welded, and again at the same spot where it was welded, it has broken again. The mechanic said theres no point of welding it, however i think he is saying that because he wants me to buy a new one. So can u tell me if i can weld it at the same spot again. I have tried using Muffler leak glue that covers the whole, however it is a semi circular part that is broken, so the glue stayed for 2 days and now the noise is back. What would you recommend, and someone told me to cover the whole with clay. Im not sure if thats a gud idea, but please help.

thanks

Answer
The problem is that the metal is weakest right next to the weld, because of the heat of welding.  it may be possible to weld it again, but I can sympathise with the mechanic, he just eants to solve the problem as permanently as possible, and doesn't want to have to try to repair something that stands a good chance of breaking right next to the new weld.
