Tips on Buying Cars: Lease vs buy, leasing a vehicle, grade model

Question
Ray,

My wife is going to need to replace her vehicle of 12 years soon.  We don't particularly want another large vehicle payment but she wants a new car and another SUV to replace her existing one.  Leasing certainly provides a more affordable monthly payment but having never leased a car before can you provide a quick snapshot of the pros/cons of leasing and whether you would ever suggest it to a friend (we don't have a business we can leverage the lease against).

Tks very much!

Answer
Hi
Leasing a vehicle you MUST fully understand the contract, whatever term you sign be 100% sure  you will want to keep it for that term and fully understand the fine print.
If you went to jail for 3 or 4 years you most likely would be released early with good behavior, with a lease, there is no parole without hurting your pocketbook big time.

I am not a fan of leasing its like renting, to many restrictions like miles - and when you return car it better not have dings or to much wear and tear as you will have to pay - simply stay away.

Yes your payments will be a bit higher with financing but it would be my choice even if I had to down grade model to meet payments.
