Tips on Buying Cars: Buying a NEW car in the US, gm dealers, mfg warranty

Question
Hi:
I live in Nova Scotia and would like to buy a new 2007 Impala in the US, PREFERABLY in New England. I can't seem to find a dealer who will sell me a car. How do I find a dealership that will sell me a new car? The difference in listed prices between Nova Scotia and Maine for example is almost $10,000! I am willing to travel to Maine, Mass., New Hampshire or Rhode Island to purchase a vehicle if I can find a seller. Any ideas??

Answer
With the Canadian dollar being strong I cant blame you, you never mentioned why they wont sell you the Impala, I mean after all whom has ever heard of a dealer turning down a deal.

It really is a simple answer , and I am sure you been told by the deales they are not allowed to export, rules by the Mfg, if they could then whats the point having GM dealers in Nova Scotia.

Now how to get around it is a different matter, have an American residence buy the vehicle and sell it back to you as used the Mfg dont have a problem with their used cars being exported.

However, consider the tax factors , import duty's, mfg warranty which will not be honored in another country by a second owner it being a used car, further consider your speedo will be in miles, for re-sale down the road checking history it will be worth much less being an import.

summary
I could carry on, but face facts if it would be that simple everyone in Canada would shop down south, I happen to be in Ontario myself, love your area, now go visit your local dealer.
