Tips on Buying Cars: Buying a decent car or van, independent mechanical inspection, ford minivans

Question
Right now I'm tight on cash but have children and need a vehicle.  I only have $1500. What brand name and year(i.e. toyota nothing less than 1995)car or minivan, if any, should(or can) i get that most likely won't be a lemon?  How do u spot a lemon anyhow? Like which brand name car has the best engine and transmission, doesn't give overheating problems, etc.  Are chevy and ford minivans any good?

Answer
Hi Rifa
Buying a vehicle in your price range is buyers beware but I have seen many consumers get valid value in this price range, here are some steps to consider and follow.

Type of vehicle takes a back seat to CONDITION, forget the Make - Model - Miles, finding something that will last and suit your needs becomes the main factor.

Forget shopping the Internet - Auctions - buy here pay here type car lots or Auto trader the odds are against you, Check local community newspapers and super market billboards along with asking friends whom just may know someone selling,it may take time , but patience is worth the investment.

HOW DO YOU SPOT A LEMON "good question"
Having bought and appraised thousand of used vehicles, I want you to follow my first step in the buying process, I don't expect you to become an expert overnight, but I will guarantee chances of getting a lemon will be slim, go to my website and study this web page    http://www.usedcartips.org/TESTDRI.html  from there should you consider buying a car that passed your testing it would be a good idea to have an independent mechanical inspection to secure your investment.

Negotiation becomes another factor to get value for your hard earned bucks, it takes study, bookmark my website and when you find time study some steps
Good Luck
