Tips on Buying Cars: starting problem, petrol car, tata indica

Question
We purchased a new petrol car(TaTa Indica) last week. After driving it for about 80kms,the next day onwards it won't start. I have to ignite it several times to start. once it starts, it won't have any trouble for that day.Could you pls tell me why this happens?

Answer
Deeja,
To be honest there are several things it could be... A bad battery, bad alternator connections, a bad alternator, dying starter or solenoids, or even a bad connection to the starter... possibly more options than that.  This is a question section on buying cars, not on repairing them, but I know cars pretty well and thought I'd try to help.  You may have more luck asking one of the repair experts as to your specific problem, but there is more than one thing it could be.  Pull a cable off the battery while the car is running, if it still goes, the alternator is working properly.. and you know its not that... then you just have to get the starter tested... But i highly recommend asking a repair expert on this same website, they would probably be able to help more.
