Tips on Buying Cars: Informations about engines, clk 270, mercedes benz

Hi there! A friend of mine recently came from a trip from europe and he started talking about (dreaming about is more like it) the price of used mercedes with gas or diesel engine. The thing I would like to ask is if he could import a 2002 mercedes clk 270 cdi (diesel) or any of the gas engines (I ask this because I remember that the gas sould is europe for those engine is 98 octanes and I thought that gas with less octanes could ruin the gas engine)! If you could give me some hint let me know!

I've never been to Europe, and I'm not familiar with European specs for engines and/or fuel.  Importing a used European-spec car can be difficult, especially if it doesn't meet U.S. safety headlight and bumper specifications.  Your best bet is to contact Mercedes-Benz directly and ask them.
