Tips on Buying Cars: New car purchase--finalize issue, new car purchase, 2007 toyota corolla

Question
I'm in the process of purchasing a 2007 Toyota Corolla CE .We didn't finalize the deal but the finance manager allowed me to drive the car home. Will keeping the car without finalizing the affect my final purchase price? The finance manager also implied that if I didn't purchase one of the extended warranties I couldn't get a cheaper interest rate through them. Is this true?

Answer
If they allowed you to take it home it should have no affect on any part of the process... then again - dealers can be tricky.. i would have hoped you agreed on a price prior to taking it home? they shouldn't stray from that price... as for the rate and warranty... if you are financing through the dealership they can probably add whatever stipulations they wish when it comes to interest rates.. so i'm sure if they want to make you get the warranty they can, otherwise, just threaten or actually go through a bank or credit union - they may change their mind or the bank/credit union may have a lower rate already and be a better choice... they usually are lower.. hope this helps!
