Tips on Buying Cars: Is there anything I can do after purchasing car not as stated in ad, used, car

Question
I live in New York State the state this purchase took place in.

On March 7th 2013 I bought a 2006 Dodge Magnum SXT Sport Wagon 4D for 9000.00. This is what the ad said.

2006 Black Dodge Magnum SXT Sport Wagon 4D for sale. Excellent condition, with only 24000 miles. Has new tires, new breaks, and new transmission. I'm moving, and need to part ways with this car. $9500 obo.

Anyway we negotiated for 9000.00. I got a bill of sale and off I went, thinking nothing would go wrong because it had low mileage and new transmission.

The bill of sale stated:

March 7th 2013

Sellers name and address
My name and address

This bill of sale confirms that buyer agrees to purchase of the 2006 Black Dodge Magnum SXT Sport Wagon 4D as described in my ad. The item is sold with no other guarantees or warrenties, for the sale price of $9000.00. All sales are final

On March 11, the car stalls on my way to work. I had the car towed to the local mechanic, thinking it could have been the starter. The mechanic then told me the transmission was shot, and after having him further look over the car the tires had little tread left, and the brakes were pretty much shot. I ended up paying 2400.40, for a new transmission, new breaks, and new tires.

The following day when I picked up my car I called the guy I bought the car from and told him what happened. He told me that it was my problem, and it was an as is sell. I told him he lied in his ad, and he said that I must have done something to the car.

My sister called the guy yesterday, trying to reason with him. He threatened to call the police if we didn't stop harassing him. So what should I do?

Answer
What has happened to you happens thousand of times every day with buyers that trust a seller because they got no experience with what questions to ask or look for, from what I read you been burned by a scumbag and am sure like many other buyers will not get burned twice. Buying privately is buying AS IS whatever the problems the minute you paid becomes your problems.

Yes he lied in his ad, but if the case ever went to court his simple statement he replaced parts with other used parts, and to him that spells new parts. I could direct you to free legal advice if you want but you would be wasting your time.

Most important right now is for you to understand the mistakes you made so this will not happen again,,, had you been able to read some of the content on my website prior to purchase this sale would not have happened. Under Navigation on home page please for starters read #4 - #15 and #20, should you have any questions at present or need some input when the time comes again to purchase feel free to make contact,,, bookmark site.

Have a Blessed day
