Tips on Buying Cars: Buying a lien car, nissan maxima, independent owner

Question
I am trying to buy a Nissan Maxima from an independent owner. When i checked it on Autocheck with the VIN # it has past record of lien/loan title in 2008. After that it had 2 owners. Now i see in the title it says it has 1 owner right now. Does the past history will effect anyways,Can i buy this car?

Answer
The auto check lists how many people past and present owned the vehicle. What you need to verify is if the current owner is actally the owner. Your local motor vehicle office can run what is called a CVR Check, that will notate who is the owner and current lien holder. If all checks out you can buy it, if there are any discrepincies i would not get involved and look elsewhere, hope this helps, let me know if you have any further questions.
