Tires: Tire Size, nissan frontier, inflation pressure

I would like to know if an LT245/75R16 tire size can replace my P265/70R16 tire on my Nissan Frontier 09 crew cab?

First, I am not a fan of replacing P type tires with LT type tires - and the reason will be obvious in the next sentence.

In order to carry the same load a P265/70R16 does at 35 psi, an LT245/75R16 needs to use 46 psi.

But the diameters are very close and the LT245 is smaller in section width.

So the tire will physically fit, but you'll have to use more inflation pressure.
