Tires: Nissan Frontier tires, nissan frontier sc, nissan frontier

Question
I have a 2003 Nissan Frontier SC crew cab.  The original tires were P265/65R17. Presently they are equipped with LT265/70 17. As I need new tires I was thinking about LT245/70 17 as these would have the same diameter as stock I believe.  Is this a good idea or would you recommend another size?  I run LTs because I need durability for bush roads.  Thank you for your advice.

Answer
Gail,

I think that if the original tire was a "P" type tire, then you should not use "LT" type tires.  I have heard folks say they have had success with LT type tires in rough conditions, but I am not convinced.

But I also think that oversizing tires is a good idea for rough road service, so if the LT265/70R17's are working for you, stick with those.
