Tires: tires, snow tires, winter tires

my son wants to put snow tires on 96 grandmarque on the front,is that smart on a 2 wheel drive in pa.

The current thinking is that cars need 4 winter tires. On a RWD, the fronts stop the car - which is important.  This, of course, is different than what was done long ago.

But putting snow tires on the front only - well, that's just not the way things were ever done.  In fact, the current recommendations are to put the best tires on the rear.
