Tires: Vintage trailer tires 7-1.00 8 ply, tandem axle, trailer tires

Question
Having trouble finding tires for 1959 Va-ka-shun-ette we've restored. They currently have very weather checked Armstrong, 7-1.00, 8 ply Heavy Duty Service, Nylon, Tubless. Worked very hard on camper. Local tire guy says wheels can't be changed out due to some type of split hub. Has tandem axle. Any help?

Answer
Angie,

I strongly suspect you have the tire size wrong.  The form should be something like this:

7.00 - 15

Where there would be a number between 5 and 10, followed by a dot, the 2 zero's.  Then a dash, then a whole number - probably 13, 14 or 15.

From there we can figure out what you need.
