Tires: 2003 Chevy Blazer ZR2 Tire Size?, chevy blazer zr2, michelin xc

Question
I currently drive a 2003 Chevy Blazer 2dr-ZR2 with BFGoodrich Long Trail T/A 31x10.50 R15.  I am considering the Michelin XC LT4.  I had these tires on my older Blazer and found them to be a much better tire all around, especially in the snow.  My question concerns the size, will P235x70xR15 fit my vehicle? and do you have any other tire recommendations for me to consider?  Thank you so much for your time, it is greatly appreciated.

Answer
Adam,

On every vehicle sold in the US - and I understand this is a worldwide practice as well - there is a sticker – commonly called the tire placard - that lists the original tire size and the proper pressure for that size.  The placard is usually located on a doorpost or in the glove box – but sometimes it is located in the trunk or on the fuel filler door.

BTW, it doesn't matter who makes the tire or what pressure is listed on the tire's sidewall, if the tire size is the same as the placard, then the pressure listed on placard is also appropriate.

According to Tire Guides, a booklet that summarizes vehicle tire placards, a 2003 Chevy Blazer originally came in a variety of models - and some models had P235/70R15's inflated to 35 psi and some had 31x10.50R15LT's inflated to 30 psi, but none of them had both listed (and they have different GVW's (Gross vehicle Weights) - and that is a concern.

But doing the math, it looks like the P235/70R15 has enough load carrying capacity regardless.
