Tires: tires, better mileage, stock tire

i have a 2007 ford focus and it eats tires almost every 25-30 k. i want to know can i go up a size to a 205/55/16 tire with out it rubbing anyplace the side wall is .4" taller than the stock tire 205/50/16. plus i will be able to buy a t rated tire that should give me better mileage

First, you should be aware that the front tires on a FWD car wear about 2½ times faster than the rears.  So if your front tires are wearing out in 25-30K, that's excellent.  You just need to rotate more often.

However, if the set of 4 is wearing out in that miles, then changing tire size is not going to fix that.  What you need to do is find a set of tires that are rated well for wear.  You don't have to drop to a T rated tire to find them.  Changing to a T speed rated tire is likely to result in a loss of steering response.

Tire Rack has plenty of tires that are rated high for wear in H and higher speed ratings.
