Tires: saturn rims, saturn sw1, saturn sw2

Question
Hi-

I want to move the 16.25 inch diameter rims (with mounted tires) from my 95 Saturn SW2 to my 95 Saturn SW1 which currently has 15.5" duiameter rims (and mounted tires). Is there any reason I should not do that?

thanks!

Answer
Katie,

First, I suspect you are getting your nomenclature wrong.  Tires for passenger cars come in even inch increments: 13", 14", 15", 16", etc.  You can tell the rim size by looking at the tire size.  The rim size is the last number after the letter "R" - like this:  205/60R16 = 16" rim.

According to Tire Guides a 1995 Saturn SW1 had an original tire size of P175/70R14 84S and a SW2 had P195/60R15 87T. So long as the tire sizes are as listed, I see no reason this shouldn't work.
