i have a 1986 ford ranger what size tires should i run on it there are 195/75r14 on it now and the spedometor is wrong it is a 2 wheel drive what tires would you recommend thank you for your help

Answer
Donald,

Let's start with the basics:

On every vehicle sold in the US, there is a sticker – commonly called the tire placard - that lists the original tire size and the proper pressure for that size.  The placard is usually located on a doorpost or in the glove box – but sometimes it is located in the trunk or on the fuel filler door.

BTW, it doesn't matter who makes the tire or what pressure is listed on the tire's sidewall, if the tire size is the same as the placard, then the pressure listed on placard is also appropriate.

If I look up your vehicle in a book called Tire guides, which summarizes vehicle tire placards, I see that there were a lot of different tire sizes that fit your description - a 195/75R14 is one of them.

So we need to get the information from the vehicle tire placard or I need a better description.  Things like Regular cab / Super Cab will help, but even then there is some variety.

Hopefully, your vehicle tire placard will be readable.
