Tires: 205-14 8ply, continental vanco, vw campmobile

Question
looking for 8 ply tires for a 1973 VW Campmoble??? Any ideals

Answer
Barry,

According to Tire Guides, a 1973 VW Campmobile originally came with 185R14C.  (C stands for Commercial which is the European version of LT = Light Truck)   It is unclear what Ply Rating the vehicle came with but the book lists the inflation pressure as 30 psi front / 44 psi rear - and that would mean a minimum of a 6 PR.  Be aware that sometimes ply ratings are expressed as Load Ranges - and in this case that would be Load Range C.

Later versions of this vehicle came with both 184R14's and 205/70R14's (in this size, it's an Extra Load = XL).

I looked on Tire Rack's web site and found 3 tires - 185R14 Continental Vanco 2, 205/70R14 General Altimax RT, and 185/75R14 Yokohama Y356.
