Tires: Tires for my car, pontiac grand prix, studded tires

I have a 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix that currently has tires on it that are size 225/60/16 5 lug.  Can I use any different size tire?  I only drive about 5000 miles a year but where I recently moved, there is a steep driveway and it is snowy here in the winters, so I need traction.  
Prices quoted me for new studded tires on rims are nearly $1000.00.  I was hoping I could buy some used studs but there doesn't seem to be many offered that size on Craigslist.  Would really appreciate your help.  Thanks so much.  J

This size is the most popular tire size.  So if you are having problems, changing tire size is not going to fix it.

Try looking at Tire Rack.

I just did that and I'm sorry to tell you, but 4 tires and rims is going to cost $1000.00.  So the question you have to ask yourself is:  Do I take the risk of needing to walk up the driveway - or not.
