Tires: incorrect tire load / danger, tire failure, tragic consequences

Question
i just got new tires.  the car was riding rough.  someone said to check the inside of the door to see what is specified.  the numbers don't match.  the tires they gave me say, "1300 lbs. maximum load".  the tires specified on the door for my SLK230 Mercedes Kompressor say, 1700 + maximum load.  in fact, i can email you the specifics of what it calls for and what they gave me.  i am concerned.  what can happen if it is insufficient weight load capacity?

Answer
Kim,

This is dangerous and could lead to a load related tire failure - which sometimes has tragic consequences.

You should take the vehicle back and point out their error to them.. In particular point out the Load Index on both the placard on the dorr and what is written on the tire.
