Tires: tires and smooth ride, 18 rims, 22 rims and tires

Question
I recently purchased a 2004 Nissan Armada off road SE. It cames with 22" rims and tires which made the ride rought so I put the 18" rims and tires on that are common for this vehicle. I still feel every bump in the road.It is a better ride but still rough. the tire size on now are P265/70R18 114s Wrangler SRA. Is there anything that would make this a smoother ride so not to feel every little thing in the road?

Answer
Lisa,

First step is to make sure the inflation pressure is right.

On every vehicle sold in the US there is a placard that will list the original tire size and the proper pressure for that size.  The placard is usually located on a doorpost or in the glove box.  If the tire size you listed is the same as on the vehicle placard, then check the pressure to make sure it is what it is supposed to be.

If the tire size is different, then post back with the size listed on the placard and the pressure and I'll calculate what the pressure should be.

If both the size and the pressure are OK, I suspect the shocks are bad.  Have them checked out.
