Tires: Trailer Tires, rim width, mobile scout

Question
I have a 1970 Mobile Scout Camper with two axles.  The tires on it are an old size, which I have not been able to find.  The tires are 7.75-15ST.  The research I have done tells me they were "Conventional" tires, not "Wide" tire, which meant they were 83% as high as wide.  My issue is that the camper's wall panels, cover half of the tires. If I use shorter tires, the plumbing line drag bumps, and wider tires do not fit between the wall and axle. Is this tire size availble today by any manufacturer?

Answer
Matthew,

I'm going to throw some statisics your way.

A 7.75-15ST came in Load Range B with 1365 # capacity at 35 psi or Load Range C with a 1680 # capacity at 50 psi.  It is important that you determine which Load Range you have.

The diameter was 27.24" and 7.65" wide on a 5 1/2" rim with an approved rim width range of 5" to 6".  It is important that you determine what the rim width is being used.

There are some tires that will be equivalent.

F78-15ST LR B = 1385# at 35 psi , LR C = 1710 # at 50 psi. 27.30" diameter, 7.75" on 5 1/2" with a rim width range of 5" to 7".

ST205/75R15 LR B = 1430# at 35 psi, LR C = 2150 at 50 psi.  27.13" daimeter, 7.99 wide on 5.5" rim with a rim width range 5" to 6 1/2".

OK, one of those ought to work.

Be aware that you will have to locate someone who specializes in equipment for trailers.

Hope this helps.
