Tires: Tire Upsizing on Std Wheels, fender wells, aluminum stock

Question
I have a 97 tahoe 4dr 4x4 with aluminum stock wheels. I'd like to know what larger sizes I could install for a slightly more aggressive look without changing the wheels.

Answer
Scott,

You should spend some time using a "Tire Calculator".  Type in those words in a search engine, and you'll find quite a few.  You'll need to know what the original tire size was, so look for your vehicle placard which will be around the driver's door.  When using the tire calculator, be sure to pay attention to the rim width and the speedometer error.  Some of the web sites will tell you what will work on the vehicle and what won't.

If I have this right, the rims on your Tahoe are 7" wide, but what I can't tell you is how much room there is in the fender wells - in other words, how big you can go.  I'd suggest you find a web site devoted to your vehicle and ask there.  Surely someone has already done this.

Hope this helps
