Tires: Spare Tire for 98 S-10, salvage yard, passenger car

Question
I've lost the spare on my S-10.  It was a donut style spare held under the truck bed with a cable which broke.

Questions:
What size replacement donut do I need to get?

Can I use any 5 lug Chevy donut spare, say the one from my passenger car (98 Lumina) or do I specifically need a donut from an S-10?

How much should I expect to pay for this at a salvage yard?

Thanks.

Answer
Hi Les,

Replacing the spare from a salvage yard is pretty cheap then getting one from a dealership. You have to get one for the s-10 model not from your car because they are different in sizes and won't work and you will regret later if trying to use it even if it did fit it would throw the balance off and have a ugly ride. If you don't plan on replacing the cable that holds the spare i would recommend getting a fullsize rim for your truck and a regular tire they last longer and can go 60 M.P.H. not like a dounut spare which isn't designed to go any faster then that.Just tell the salvage dealer what year and size of your tires and they will know what to do..Goodluck
