Motorcycle Safety & Driveability: 2002 Suzuki GSXR 600 mpg, suzuki gsxr 600, 2002 suzuki gsxr 600

Question
Hello Pat.  I just recently bought a 2002 Suzuki GSXR 600.  I looked into the manual, and googled online, but no matter what I do, I cannot find out how many miles per gallon this bike is getting.  I kind of need to know so I'll know when to fill up.  I don't want to get stuck somewhere.  I even went onto Suzuki's website.  Nada!  I hope you could help me out.  Thank you!

Answer
Unfortunately with motorcycles this can be trial and error.

It will depend on how you ride it. I'd estimate you can get 40 mpg commuting, 50 traveling, and 35 sport riding. But every bike and every rider is different.

I'd recommend you sign on to an Internet forum for Gixxer 600 enthusiasts and ask them what mpg they get. Or you could just sign up on a sport bike forum and probably get the same answers. Examples are cycleforums.com, sportbikes.com, mnsbr.com, etc. People there are always willing to share their knowledge and experience.

If you can't make that work, you should strap a gallon of gas on the passenger seat and ride the bike 'till it's empty, then you'll know for sure...at least for that day's type of riding!
