Motorcycle Safety & Driveability: the pros ans cons, motorcycle helmet laws, motorcycle rider

Question
what are the pros and cons about motorcycle helmet laws

Are you a motorcycle rider? If you are and you ride in a place where the law requires you to wear a helmet, then you have no choice. If you are in one of those places that still permits people to expect that heads can come into contact with solid or moving objects and survive, then the decision is yours. However, I trust that you will choose to ride with one!

Basically -

Pros:

Greater likelihood of surviving a collision without severe head or facial injuries. HURT report says 30% of head landings are on the chin, so use a full face or flip-up type helmet.

Protection for your face and eyes from birds, insects, bugs and other debris while riding.

Can be fitted with all sorts of gadgets for entertainment and communication these days.

Can be a fashion item, but don't buy the open face or beanie-type helmets as they are pretty useless in a collision.

Cons:

Loss of that "wind-in-your-hair" feeling, but in English-type weather that's not really a problem!

Some people take a while to get used to the weight or the feeling of being shut in, but that tends to go once you are on the move.

In some collisions, your neck may snap instead of having your head caved in. Instant death or weeks in a coma. You choose!

Some people just like to rebel and don't like being told to do anything safety-wise. Unfortunately, they don't usually like to pay the hospital bills that go with the consequences of their behaviour.

Speed is irrelevant as even 30 mph collisions can cause severe head injuries.

Buy one and buy a good one. How much is your head worth to you?
