Used Cars: i bought a salvaged car unknowingly, acure integra, california laws

Question
When I bought my 97 Acure Integra off the car lot I specifically asked the dealer if it was salvaged and he said it was not. A month and a half later I received the registration in the mail which stated it was salvaged. I now have several problems with the car and I am paying almost monthly for fixtures. Some people told me it was illegal to sell a salvaged car on a car lot in California. Is it true? Can I take him to court for lying about it?

Answer
Man I hate hearing these type of stories, these type of car lots give us all bad names.
Here in Oklahoma there is a place called the Used Parts and Vehicle Commission, they are essentially the "Police" of used car lots, and if that were to happen in Oklahoma, that is who I would tell a person in your situation to call.
Now...every state is different, with their own rules, and I do not know what California rules are but you really need to check around and see if there is a place like that there.
Carlots are not supposed to do things like that, but as far as it being legal or illegal is another thing.  Generally a dealer covers his business in having you sign an AS -IS Buyers Guide, and that legally protects them, but in the end, I still think you have a leg to stand on, you just need to check the legalities available to you under California Laws.
