Used Cars: Fun Convertible - Honda Del Sol, honda del sol, decent cars

Question
I have a '97 BMW 328 'vert, which a is fun sunny-weekends-only toy car, but "it's always something" going wrong.
I'm thinking of replacing it with a 94 - 97 Honda Del Sol, not a project car, one in excellent condition.
There are a lot of these around, many where previous owner has upgraded, repainted, and swapped original Civic engine with bigger one from Acura.
Is this a good choice, or am I asking for trouble??
(Yes I know these have rain leaks, but will only be driven in rain by accident.)
If this car not a good choice, what would you recommend???

Answer
As for the Honda Del Sol's in general, I think they are pretty good cars, that you should have little to no problems with, however, I just dont know what you can expect with an engine swap, I just do not have enough knowledge in that area.  In general I would think if it was done right, there should not be any problems, but I would still go through all the processes of purchasing a used car in running a carfax report, have it mechanically inspected, and find out all you can about what all has been done to the car, and how well was it all done.
If I had to recommend any, I would include the Del Sol in that, and maybe add the Honda 3000, or Mazda Miata, simply because those are the ones I have a little experience with, and they seem to be decent cars.
