Used Cars: used cars, brand new car, legal options

Question
Hello my family just brought a new car on monday(7/6/09) and today (7/8/09) the car wont come on. Is there a law that say how long the car should be working before we can sue or can the person that sold us the car can give us  our money back??

Answer
Well first and foremost have you checked with the dealer to see if they will assist you with this problem.  Chances are it is not anything major, but just backing out and getting your money back is not the easiest thing to do.  Every state has their own rules and regulations, but you really need to give the dealer an opportunity to try and help you out. Most of the time, these are sold AS-IS, and once the deal is done, your legal options are pretty limited.
But to answer your question directly, NO, there is no law about how long a car should be working after you purchase it.  If it is a brand new car, there are warranties that will take care of it, if it is a used car, just see if the dealer will help you.
