Used Cars: 2006 Shelby GT-H in Florida, shelby gt, ford dealership

Question
Hi , I live in Connecticut and i found a 2006 Shelby GT-H in Florida that is in my price range. How do I buy a car so far away and not get ripped off? It has 20000 rented California miles on it and of coarse the dealer says it is a beautiful car. I ran a car fax on it and it came back clean except of course it was a rental from Hertz. What is the best way to go about buying this car ? And any ideas about shipping? Thanks for any advise you can provide.

Answer
Well that is a tough one.  I mean, there is not a bunch of those cars on the road, so getting an extremely good deal on the car is probably not likely.  As far as shipping, it would be a lot more cost effective to just find a couple of older men, with nothing better to do, to drive down there and pick it up for you.  If you want it trailered, there are a lot of people that will do that for you, again, you are going to pay quite a bit, but there really is no way around it, if you want it trailered.  As far as the car itself, It is still under warranty, the carfax is clean, and I would definetly ask the dealer to email you a bunch of pictures of the car, inside, outside, under the hood and trunk.  Another thing that you can do is get the vin number from the car, and ask a local Ford Dealership to pull up a warranty history on the vehicle, that will basically tell you anything that was done to the car under warranty.  I am not a big fan of rental cars, but for that particular car if the warranty history was clean, the carfax was clean, the pictures of the car prove it is all that it is supposed to be, I would be fine purchasing the vehicle long distance.
