Trucking: good or bad(pricing), current fuel prices, hartford ct

 Iam trying to start and run my own small fleet(2 tractors),and just like everyone else do not want to overbid or worse underbid.Here is my flat rate of $750. to run from South Jersey to hartford CT (400 miles roundtrip +-)).Does that seem right?

Joel, It's hard to say on the surface.  Does that include Fuel?  How much "free" time are you including for loading / unloading?
Assuming you are in a high cost congested area and subject to delays it doesn't sound out of line to me.  I assume this run will consume the drivers entire day within HOS.  A good rule of thumb in the Southeast is $600 - $650 per day for a driver and truck but with current fuel prices and operating costs in the Northeast I would think that the $700 - $750 range is  probably right in the market.  Your price sounds right to me.
